Characteristics[]

Melons appear to be watermelons. Melons can be planted in dirt and harvested for food to feed settlers. Each melon plant will provide 0.5 food units. A settler must be assigned to the plant with the workshop menu in order to grow and harvest the fruit.

In Survival mode, they are a highly useful consumable, providing both water and food. Two melons, when eaten, will bring the Sole Survivor from "parched" and "peckish" back to a normal thirst and hunger level. If a renewable (or portable) source of purified water is not available, melons are a superior source of hydration to drinking dirty water, with significantly reduced radiation damage and disease risk, compared to the amount of hydration provided - and with the additional benefit of reducing hunger.

Locations[]

Melons can be purchased from multiple food vendors and general vendors across the Commonwealth. They can occasionally be found as loot dropped by individual NPCs.

Nine melon plants can be found at Abernathy farm, just south of Red Rocket truck stop. These melons will respawn periodically even if Abernathy Farm is not a player controlled settlement, provided the Abernathy family are alive to tend these crops.

Two melon plants can be found behind the house across the street from the Sole Survivor's house in Sanctuary Hills.

One melon planter can be found in the greenhouse at Graygarden.

Several melons (not melon plants) can be found inside the Super Duper Mart in Lexington.

Seven in Leonard Moore's garden between Hugo's Hole and the coastal cottage.

Notes[]

Lucy Abernathy will ask the Sole Survivor to give her any melons they come across and will pay them 3 caps (5 with a persuasion check) per melon sold to her.

Bugs[]

Has platform::PC Has platform::Xbox One Sometimes when planting a melon, it can be placed in the harvest state already. This can lead to an infinite loop of planting and harvesting it.[已验证]

Has platform::PC Has platform::Xbox One Sometimes when removing a melon, it disappears, but can still be seen in the workshop menu. Every attempt to move it causes the game to crash or lag.[已验证]

It seems to disappear after some time, around 60s real-time, with all bugged instances vanishing at the same time.[已验证]
